Save the Date! Energy Savings Workshop

Interested in cutting down on home energy costs and saving money?

Join Nao Ueda, Scott Walters, and other experts as they share their tips on how to save energy and money, Tuesday, July 26 at 6 p.m. at Village Commons (1423 C South Main) in downtown Little Rock.

Nao Ueda is the Outreach Coordinator for Audubon Arkansas and author of GreenAR by the Day. For the past several years, Nao and her partner have been weatherizing their 1917 home in downtown Little Rock. Their average electricity consumption is less than half of that consumed by the average Arkansas household. Nao is currently completing her certification to become a LEED Green Associate and RESNET-certified HERS energy rater.

Scott Walters serves as the rector at Christ Episcopal Church in Little Rock. Prior to attending seminary, Scott worked as a carpenter and building contractor. He leads Village Commons’ Healthy Communities Committee and has been working to weatherize his church as well as homes in Little Rock’s South End community.

Topics covered will include:

  • Free and low-cost energy savings tips
  • State and utility programs to help homeowners implement energy efficiency upgrades
  • Financial incentives for energy efficiency
  • Earth Aid and setting up free personal online dashboards to track home energy use

Participants are encouraged to bring current utility bills (electricity and gas).
